I want to thank everyone for their support and especially the prayers. Lyric went from having a four day temp, not eating & drinking and pain and discomfort to her first day of feeling and looking better.
At about 3:00am Lyric began to cry non stop. I got the sense she had hunger pain and not discomfort because she had just had her dose of morphine 30 min before. I had a piece of chocolate cake from her lunch left and decided to see if she would eat it. She pigged out. Ate the whole thing and went to sleep.
This morning she finally broke the high temp and ate pretty well. The Dr. visited us and said they received the first negative blood culture for infection from the lab. Two more and the infection is gone. He even told us to his surprise her nuetrophil count (white cell) was at 70 which is finally, after two and a half weeks, the beginning of her recovery. The neutrophill cells are the white cells that fight infection. This is great news. It doesn't mean she's completely better, but it's a start. She got to finally get out of her room and take a walk in the halls.
You can image as Lyric's daddy keeping an account of her fight on this site, how hard it is to report the bad news. But if feels so good to report the good news when so many people have put Lyric on their heart and prayed for her. Thank you.
